I recently hired Thomas to install outdoor decking at our home, and while there were some positive aspects to his service, the overall experience was disappointing due to significant issues that arose after completion. I’m sharing this review to caution others considering his services.
On the positive side, Thomas was easy to contact during the planning phase, responding promptly to calls and messages, which gave us confidence in his professionalism. He arrived on the scheduled start date and completed the decking installation on time, which we appreciated. Initially, we were satisfied with the appearance of the deck, as it looked well-constructed at first glance.
However, several issues overshadowed these positives. The most significant problem emerged after the job was done. We discovered that Thomas had moved the waste pipes during installation but failed to properly refit them. As a result, wastewater pooled under the decking, creating an unhygienic and problematic situation. This issue has diminished the functionality of our new deck and required urgent repair.
When we tried to address this with Thomas, his initial responsiveness disappeared. He promised to return on two occasions to fix the problem but failed to show up both times without any explanation. After these no-shows, he stopped responding to our calls and messages entirely, ignoring both me and my wife. This lack of accountability has been incredibly frustrating.
We were left to resolve the waste pipe issue ourselves, at additional cost, turning what seemed like a decent decking project into a an unnecessary ordeal. While Thomas’s punctuality and initial communication were positives, his failure to address a critical post-job issue make him an unreliable choice. I recommend others look for a contractor who follows through on their work and prioritizes customer satisfaction.
